Teaching Summary

My teaching focuses on user experience, information architecture, AI-assisted design, and applied information science. I have developed new courses that align with the growing role of artificial intelligence in information work, UX research, and digital design practice. My teaching approach connects foundational Information Science principles with emerging AI and UX practices, preparing students for both current professional expectations and future workforce needs.

A major area of my recent course development is AI and UX. I developed two upcoming courses: INFO 5701: AI Tools for Information Scientists and INFO 5736: AI-Assisted UX: Principles and Practices. These courses reflect my commitment to expanding the curriculum in response to rapid technological change. 

I currently teach two UX research and design courses: INFO 5735: Usability & User Experience Metrics and INFO 4745/5745: Information Architecture. These courses support students’ development in UX research, design evaluation, information organization, and user-centered system design. I also teach INFO 4100: Introduction to Information Science, a core course in the BS-IS program.

Overall, my teaching portfolio demonstrates a sustained commitment to curriculum innovation, applied learning, and professional preparation. By integrating traditional Information Science foundations with forward-looking AI and UX education, I aim to help students build strong conceptual knowledge, practical skills, ethical judgment, and career readiness for roles in UX, information systems, AI-supported work, and digital product development.

AI Tools for Information Scientists (Upcoming)

This course provides a comprehensive overview of AI tools designed for a diverse audience of students, researchers, and teachers with a focus on practical, real-world use of contemporary tools. The curriculum, grounded in the user-centricprinciples of Information Science, focuses on the practical application and ethical implications of contemporary AI technologies. Participants will be introduced to a range of tools for natural language processing (NLP), machine learning (ML), and data analytics, with a specific emphasis on how these technologies can be leveraged for enhanced learning, scholarly communication, and information management.

AI-Assisted UX: Principles and Practics (Upcoming)

This course explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-Generated Content (AIGC) are transforming the User Experience (UX) design lifecycle. Students will learn principles and practices of integrating AI into UX research, prototyping, usability testing, and content generation. Through case studies, hands-on exercises, and a final project, students will critically examine opportunities and challenges of AI-assisted design innovation while developing practical skills with AI tools for UX.

Usability & User Experience Metrics (Current)

This course examines user experience (UX) for contemporary digital

products, including mobile apps, enterprise software, and connected-device

ecosystems. It positions UX as a business-critical capability across the

product lifecycle: discovery, design, development, release, and continuous

optimization. Students learn technology-enabled approaches to capture, measure,

and interpret user behavior and sentiment across devices and contexts, with a

focus on responsible data collection, privacy, and governance.

Information Architecture (Current)

This course introduces the student to the basic concepts and components of Information Architecture within the context of end-user and organizational needs. It provides the student with an understanding of the intellectual technologies necessary to design and implement effective and cost–efficient information systems such as digital libraries, database systems, and a range of other web-accessible resources, as well as collaborative computer systems in organizational environments. Students conduct a collaborative term project to design and implement a real-world system integrating the knowledge and skills learned on organization of information, visual design, human interface and usability issues.

Introduction to Information Science

This course serves as a core course of the BS-IS program

and prepare undergraduate students of the field of Information Science to understand the origin and history of “Information Science”, essential characteristics and the scope of this discipline, as well as fundamental principles and international standards of this discipline. This course guides students through each of the essential conceptual blocks of information science such as information behavior, bibliometric analysis, information organizing and retrieval, e-publishing, information security & privacy, the future of the discipline.
